India suffered an early blow in the early parts of the Australian Open on Wednesday, after the mixed doubles pairing of Ashwini Ponnappa and Pranaav Jerry Chopra crashed out in the opening round of the competition, losing their opening round clash in straight games 21-19 21-14 to Korea’s CHOI Solgyu and EOM Hyu Won in just 35 minutes.
Game 1 proved to be close contest between both the pairs as each won 3 consecutive points but the conversion of the Game point by the Korean pair proved to be their down fall as the Indians went down 21-19 in the first game.
The second game saw the Indian pair win 3 points on the trot while the Koreans won 4 and once again the pair of Solgyu and Won converted their game points to secure a straight games win.
