New Delhi, July 30 Indian men's doubles shuttlers Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy rose three places to reach their career-best ranking of No.17 in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on Thursday.
The climb comes after some brilliant performances in the international circuit lately. The pair reached the semifinals of the Russian Open last week and were beaten finalists at the US Open held in June.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Indian shuttlers maintained their positions in their respective categories. Kidambi Srikanth, reigning Commonwealth Games champion Parupalli Kashyap and H.S. Prannoy are ranked third, 10th and 12th in men's singles.
Indian ace Saina Nehwal is still No.2 while double World Championship bronze medallist P.V. Sindhu is 13th. Women's doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa are placed at No.12.
There is no Indian representation in the top-25 of mixed doubles.
The players will get a chance at improving their rankings at the World Badminton Championships that starts in Jakarta on August 10. India will be fielding their biggest and strongest squad and the team of Attri and Reddy will take on the Chinese combo of Cai Yun and Lu Kai in their first round.
