Bangalore, Feb 7 (IANS): Tanvi Lad of Air India caused a stir by knocking out top seed Arundhati Pantawane of Maharashtra 21-13, 20-22, 21-16, to enter the women’s final in the Canara Bank All-India ranking badminton tournament here Friday.
In the final, Lad will take on second seeded Rituparna Das of Andhra who defeated No. 4 Sayali Gokhale 21-17, 22-20.
The men’s final will be between the two top seeds, Sourabh Varma of Petroleum and Karnataka’s Anup Sridhar, who won their respective semi-final matches in contrasting styles.
Sourabh accounted for sixth seeded Sameer Verma of Madhya Pradesh 21-16, 21-15, while Sridhar went the distance before overcoming Andhra’s Siril Varma 21-15, 18-21, 21-13.
