The BWF China Open begins tomorrow (September 17), and the competition promises some blockbuster action on the courts of the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium in Changzhou. The tournament is the final Super 1000 event of the year and will draw in some fierce competitors.
India will be featuring a watered-down squad in China, with HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen, PV Sindhu as well as Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy all having withdrawn from the event in late August. In their absence, the women's doubles duo of Treesa Jolly and Gayathri Gopichand will be leading the nation's hopes for a title finish.
Elsewhere, in men's singles, all eyes will be on Priyanshu Rajawat as the youngster looks to make his mark on the big stage. Joining him will be Kiran George, while the women's singles features Aakarshi Kashyap, Malvika Bansod, and Imad Farooqui Samiya.
Meanwhile, Sumeeth Reddy and Sikki Reddy are joined by compatriots Sathish Kumar Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath in the mixed doubles draw. India will have no representation in men's doubles after Rankireddy and Shetty's withdrawal.
