BWF Rankings: Saina Nehwal retains no. 4 spot, Parupalli Kashyap clings on to 13th spot

Indian badminton icon Saina Nehwal continues to hold the number four spot in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings.

China’s Li Xuerui holds the pride of place in the women’s singles category. Thailand’s rising star Ratchanok Intanon continues to hold the number two spot.

Germany’s Juliane Schenk is still perched at number three slot, while China’s Wang Yihan is placed fifth.

Saina will be making her first international appearance after playing in the inaugural Indian Badminton League (IBL) – she gave the Japan Open Super Series event a miss in order to recover from the stress of playing in the league.

The Indian badminton star is expected to feature in the Yonex Denmark Open Super Series Premier event slated to be held in Odense from October 15.

PV Sindhu, who bagged a bronze at this year’s World Championship, retained her last week’s ranking of 10.

India’s top ranked men’s singles player Parupalli Kashyap, who reached the pre-quarterfinals of the World Badminton Championships in Guangzhou, and turned out for Banga Beats in the much-hyped Indian Badminton League (IBL), also retained his last week’s ranking of 13.

Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei continues to the hold the numero uno spot in the men’s singles category. The Chinese duo of Chen Long and Du Pengyu retained the number two and three spots respectively.

Among the other Indian men, RMV Gurusaidutt edged up one spot to be placed 24th.

Ajay Jayaram continues to hold the 25th spot.

K Srikanth moved up one place to be ranked 31st.

Anand Pawar, son of former India international Uday Pawar, also also retained his last week’s ranking of 33.

B Sai Praneeth fell one spot to be at 40th spot.

HS Pranoy dropped one spot to occupy the 43^rd spot.

Sourabh Varma fell two spots to 46th.

Arvind Bhat moved up three places to 80th.

Anup Sridhar, who surged twenty-five places last week, fell three spots to be ranked 97th.

Old warhorse Chetan Anand fell two spots, who dropped out of the top-100, fell one spot and was placed 102nd.

Among the Indian women, Arundhati Pantawane fell one place to be at 53rd spot, while Tanvi Lad slipped two places to occupy the 69th spot.

PC Thulasi slipped four places to be at 77th spot.
