Carolina Marin of Spain clinched the 2015 Australian Open Women’s Singles title, after defeating Shixian Wang of China 22-20 21-18 in the finals on Sunday. Game 1 saw the Spaniard race off to an early lead 4-0 lead, but Wang made a fine comeback into the match to make it 4-4.
Despite that turnover, though, Wang couldn't build any sufficient pressure on Marin and it didn't help her cause that 2015 All England Open winner continued to take a bigger lead over her opponent on a regular basis and eventually sealed the opening game 22-20.
In the second game, Marin once again took an early lead, going 4-1 up and despite Wang winning 4 consecutive points to go from being 8-6 down to 10-8 up, she still couldnt maintain a firm grip on proceedings and eventually lost the game 21-18.
