Rio de Janeiro, Aug 19 (IANS) Malaysian Lee Chong Wei scripted history by defeating two-time reigning Olympics champion Lin Dan of China 15-21, 21-11, 22-20 in the semi-finals of the men's singles event of Badminton competitions of the Rio Olympics on Friday.
The 33-year-old Malaysian took an hour and 19 minutes to edge past his 32-year-old Chinese opponent to book his place in the summit clash at the Pavilion 4 of the Riocentro.
Top-seeded Chong Wei will battle it out for gold on Saturday with the winner of the other semi-final clash between Chen Long of China and Victor Axelsen of Denmark.
