Chinese Taipei shuttler Hsu Ya Ching pulled off an astonishing mid-rally racquet change during her second round robin women's doubles match against Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen of Denmark in Group B of the Dubai World Superseries Finals 2017 on Thursday. Despite having won the opening game, the duo of Ya Ching and Wu Ti Jung succumbed to a 22-20, 13-21, 17-21 defeat in 1 hour 12 minutes.
The World No. 21 pair of Ya Ching and Ti Jung started the game on the front foot and took the game to their opponents during the opening set of the match. However, they were granted a lifeline when Juhl and Pedersen squandered a game point after doing all the hard work to claw back into the opener.
Juhl and Pedersen, currently ranked third in the world, showed their experience and determination when they pulled themselves together in the second set and won it by a convincing margin of 21-13. The game further slipped away from the hands of Ya Ching and Ti Jung in the decider and they eventually surrendered the match.
One of the most unusual sights in badminton happened on match point when Ya Ching showed the courage to run out of the court for a quick racquet change and yet managed to come back while the duo was on the receiving end of a rally.
