Srikanth Kidambi and PV Sindhu are the only 2 Indians to qualify for the World Superseries Finals in 2017
The best players from the badminton world descended in Dubai on Monday for the BWF Gala Night ahead of the season-ending World Superseries Finals that is scheduled to be held at the Hamdan Sports Complex from Wednesday. Amidst the glitz and glamour, the annual BWF Awards were handed out to players/pairs for their performances this season.

India ended up with only one win when the country’s No. 1 men’s singles shuttler, Srikanth Kidambi was adjudged the ‘Best Dressed Male Player’ of the night. The top-ranked women’s singles player, Tai Tzu Ying was conferred on the ‘Best Dressed Female Player’ award.
Srikanth was also vying for the ‘Male Player of the Year’ award but he lost to the irrepressible Indonesian men’s doubles duo of Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.

PV Sindhu, the only other Indian to qualify for the World Superseries Finals this year, was in contention for the ‘Best Female Player of the Year’, which eventually went to Chinese doubles ace Chen Qingchen.
India also had another nominee at the prestigious awards with 17-year-old Satwiksairaj Rankireddy finding his name in the ‘Eddy Choong Most Promising Player of The Year Award’ category. Ultimately, it was the 19-year-old Chinese women’s singles sensation, Chen Yufei, who got it.

Japanese women’s doubles pair of Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota became the recipient of the ‘Most Improved Players of the Year’ award.
The players were dressed their best for the occasion that made for some stunning photos.
