After the continued failure of Indian superstar Saina Nehwal in the latest performances this year, Gopichand shared the main reasons for her failure with reporters.
The founder of the Gopichand Badminton Academy and the National Coach is of the opinion that Saina’s fitness has been affected by a hectic schedule of International and National tournaments. Gopichand Badminton Academy is located in Hyderabad, and serves as an important training resource for top Indian shuttlers.
The World No. 6 Saina Nehwal failed in the last few tournaments and wasn’t able to earn a single title this season. Her success is only limited to some good performances in the Yonex All England Open Badminton Championship 2013 and the Maybank Malaysia Open 2013 in the beginning of this year.
Gopichand told about the degradation in level of game-play from Indian shuttlers because of the tiring schedule in the last few months. He further pointed out decline in form specifically after the September month.
Highlighting the major tournaments scheduled next year like the Asian games and the Commonwealth games, he stressed on the importance of a sound training schedule that can help the lost capable star to make her come back in the upcoming season.
In his oration, he talked about potential of Saina Nehwal and her previous performances along with her loosing the top five spot after her recent failures. In last months, Saina failed against the lower ranked players and faced an early rule-out. The Indian sensation recently lost in the Hong Kong Super Series in round two.
