Indian shutters Jwala gutta and V Diju made their country proud by winning India’s first ever mixed doubles pair grand prix Gold. The pair which is ranked number seven defeated the Indonesian pair of Hendra Aprida Gunawan and Vita Marissa in Taipei City. Indonesian pair gave a good fight in the first set which was won eventually by long rallies. In the second set we saw the Indian pair climbing back from 13-9 to 15-15 and then going on to win the set. Both were exuberant after winning the game and missed their team who had already left for India. They would fully realise their victory when they are greeted by Indian fans when they return. Earlier this mixed double pair had won the Bitburger open in Bulgaria and also reached till quarterfinals of world badminton championships in Hyderabad. This double pair also raises India’s hope for a medal in the commonwealth games in Delhi next year.
