The top-seeded Indian men’s doubles pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy showed a lot of resilience to book themselves a berth in the final of the XXI Peru International 2016 on Saturday. The World No. 20 pair came back from a game down to edge past the Canadian duo of Adrian Liu and Derrick Ng, 18-21, 21-19, 21-13 in the semi-final contest. The match lasted 51 minutes.
In the summit clash, they will lock horns with the second seeds Adam Cwalina and Przemyslaw Wacha of Poland. The two teams met thrice last year and the Indians won two of those meetings.
Attri and Reddy, who finished 2015 with the Mexico City Grand Prix title, have been struggling for consistency this year and have so far reached just one BWF quarter-final at the New Zealand Open.
After receiving a first round bye at this week’s Peru International, they began their challenge with a comfortable 21-13, 21-18 victory over the American combine of Phillip Chew and Sattawat Pongnairat in the last-eight showdown.
