R.M.V. Gurusaidutt of India hits a retur

Indian hopes ended as the last remaining Indian shuttler R.M.V Gurusaidutt lost in the Quarterfinals of the Yonex Denmark Open Superseries Premier.

Gurusaidutt, who is currently the World No. 24 lost to the World No. 3 Du Pengyu of China 21-11 21-19 in a match which lasted for 47 minutes. Gurusaidutt, who caused a huge upset in the opening round after defeating the World No. 11 Hu Yun of Hong Kong gave a tough fight to his higher ranked Chinese opponent.

Gurusaidutt’s start to the match was not good as he trailed by 5 points in the initial part of the first game. Pengyu further increased his lead after the mid game interval to 17-11. After this Pengyu grabbed the next 4 points in quick succession to win the first game 21-11.

The second game was a lot more evenly contested. Both the players were fighting hard for each and every point. Gurusiadutt started this game with a bang as he clinched 4 consecutive points when the scores were 3-3.

Gurusaidutt, who was leading by 11-7 at the mid game interval of the second game lost 6 points in a row to the World No. 3. After this the World No. 24 Indian shuttler gave his best to win the second game but was unable to do so and hence lost the game 19-21. Gurusaidutt will next play the French Open Superseries tournament which will start from 22 Oct.

Earlier in the day, star Indian shuttler and World No. 4 Saina Nehwal lost to the World No. 6 Korean shuttler Ji Hyun Sung 21-13 18-21 19-21 in the Quarterfinals.
