India young badminton sensation K. Srikanth ousted 17th seeded Son Wan Ho of South Korea in the second round of $500,000 Maybank Malaysia Open Super Series Premier on Thursday on Court 4 of the Putra stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
The 38th-ranked player from India won by the score of 11-21, 21-19, 21-19 in a 1 hr 9 minute long match.
In the third round of the tournament K. Srikanth will face World 4th ranked Tommy SUGIARTO.
After the shock exit of top Indian stars Saina Nehwal and P V Sindhu, this win of Srikanth’s would bring some cheer among Indian fans.
Later in the day India’s top-ranked male player P. Kashyap will play his second round match of the tournament.
