After the disappointing exit of Parupalli Kashyap in the first round, India’s men’s campaign at the 2015 Australian open received a boost after World No.4 Kidambi Srikkanth beat Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark 14-21 21-18 22-20 in his first round clash in a match that lasted for 53 minutes.
Srikanth, who didn't have the best of times at the Sudirman Cup, where he lost to Lee Chong Wei. didn't get off to the best of starts in the opening game, winning just 3 consecutive points as compared to his opponent’s 5 and eventually lost the game 14-21.
But he made a strong comeback in the second game, clinching an impressive 12 points straight(Point 2 to 14) as compared to Vittinghus's 3 and romped to 21-8 win to take the match into a deciding game.
The decider though proved to be a tight affair, but it was Srikanth who prevailed 22-20 in the end and moved into the second round.
