Continuing his good run in the Macau Open Badminton Championship, India’s RMV Gursaidutt coasted into the men’s singles semifinals with a facile 21-11, 21-14 win over Hong Kong’s Chan Yan Kit here today.
The 12th seeded Indian was quick off the blocks and started dictating terms to Chan and maintained his stranglehold over his opponent to take the opening game at 21-11.
The 51st ranked Indian, who stunned seventh seed and world number 25 Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka of Indonesia in straight games in the pre-quarterfinals, did not let his guard down in the second game and pocketed it at ease, winning it at 21-14 to book his last four spot.
There was more good news for the Indian camp.
K Srikanth became the second Indian to make it to the semifinals with a splendid come-from-behind 16-21, 21-19, 21-19 victory over 90th ranked Nan Wei of Hong Kong.
