Third seeds Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy ended their 2015 season on a high by capturing the men’s doubles title at the Mexico City Grand Prix on Sunday. The Indian duo put up an impressive performance to beat the unseeded Thai pair of Bodin Issara and Nipitphon Puangpuapech 22-20, 21-18 in the 36-minute final.
The win also helped them avenge their previous week’s defeat to Issara and Puangpuapech at the 2015 K&D Graphics Yonex Grand Prix.

This is the third title of the season for the pair of Attri and Reddy, who had earlier won at the Lagos International and the Belgian International.
The World No. 20 Indian pair eked out a hard-fought first game as their opponents saved a flurry of game points. Always a little ahead of their rivals in the opener, they surged from 6-6 to lead 11-9 at the interval.
Then from 12-11, they inched ahead 17-15 and kept increasing the lead further to hold four game points at 20-16. The resilient Thai pair, however, refused to wilt as they saved all the four game points to level at 20-20. The Indians then held their nerves well to seal the game 22-20.

Having pocketed the opening game, the Indians began the second game in a more dominant fashion and enjoyed a comfortable lead of 6-3. By the mid-game break, they were ahead at 11-6. However, the World No. 35 duo fought back soon after that and closed the gap to 11-13.
Despite the pressure, the Indian pair kept their calm to keep the scoreboard ticking in their favour. They raced away to 18-13 and then wrapped up the game 21-18 to clinch the win.
