McCann Worldgroup India have been appointed by the Indian Badminton League to carry out its creative mandate and they are going to be responsible for all the strategic and creative communication promoting the IBL.
Prasoon Joshi, who is the president (South Asia) of McCann World Group, said: “We are happy to promote badminton and use our expertise in sport communication to further the game and the Indian Badminton League.”
The first edition of the IBL is to be launched this year, and the tournaments have been scheduled for mid August.
“It is a challenge to create a lasting impression for a sport other than cricket but that’s what drives us at McCann,” added the executive director Alok Lall.
The league, which is expected to start from August 14 this year till August 31, is said to be the richest badminton league in the world, with a kitty of $1 million. The tournament will he held in six cities across India and some well-known badminton players will take part in the league.

Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta, who is the BAI president and IBL governing council chairman, said: “I am confident our association will transform badminton’s profile in India and elsewhere, and make the sport even more popular amongst the masses.”
