The performance of Prajakta Sawant will decide her inclusion in the core group for training of badminton players. It was delivered by Badminton Association of India to Bombay High Court.
Earlier Sawant filed a petition against the chief national coach Pullela Gopichand headed Badminton Association of India’s selection committee for being biased against her.
Last week, it was summoned by the court to enquire about the reasons for not selecting her for the international tournaments. The court asked justification for not including her in the international events after improvement in her ranking in last seasons.
In her previous petition against Gopichand, she highlighted being not selected for the national coaching camp in Hyderabad. She also accused Gopichand of favouring his own academy players.
Sports Authority of India (SAI) submitted the enquiry report mentioning the incompliance to the entry in the upcoming tournaments like Macau Grand Prix Gold 2013 and Vietnam Open 2013 because the last date for the registration was already over. They further defended by clarifying their not sending any Indian representation in the Vietnam Open because this tournament is not included in the annual calendar because of training.
In the concluding note, they also mentioned to pursue Badminton Association of India (BAI) to let Sawant be a part of the upcoming training programme based on her performance in recent events.
