After a hectic Saturday (November 30) at the Syed Modi International, fans finally know their finalists for the event. Today's matches in Lucknow brought some high-intensity action, as the nation's shuttlers qualified for the finals in all events.
Getting the day started on the right note, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto stormed into the mixed doubles finals after a dominant display. The Indians took down fourth seed Zhou Zhi Hong and Yang Jia Yi in straight games.
Up next, PV Sindhu battled rising star Unnati Hooda. While the youngster has previously proven that she can battle with the best, the two-time Olympic medalist was simply too good today, as she beat her compatriot 21-12, 21-9 in just 36 minutes.
Elsewhere, Lakshya Sen got the better of Japan's Shogo Ogawa 21-8, 21-14 to reach his first finals this year. However, Singapore's Jason Teh managed to beat Priyanshu Rajawat in the other men's singles semifinals to deny the nation's badminton enthusiasts an all-Indian final.
The women's doubles saw Treesa Jolly and Gayathri Gopichand overcome the Thai pair of Benyapa Aimsaard and Nuntakarn Aimsaard after a lengthy battle.
Unfortunately, Ashwini Ponappa and Tanisha Crasto weren't able to mirror the same results, going down against the unseeded Bao Li Jing and Li Qian over the course of three games.
Meanwhile, the men's doubles semifinals at the Syed Modi International saw an all-Indian fight as Pruthvi Roy and Sai Pratheek took on Ishaan Bhatnagar and Sankar Udayakumar. The two pairs locked horns in a grueling encounter before the former emerged victorious in a match that lasted nearly an hour.
