The Indian Badminton League has run into a bit of a roadblock as far it’s second season is concerned. The busy international schedule could force the Badminton Association of India (BAI) to push the event to early next year instead of in 2014, reports NDTV.
The inaugural edition was a huge success with fans, players and sponsors alike extremely delighted to be a part of it. And on the back of that success, this year’s edition was slated to be held between September 30 and October 15.
But with 2014 also featuring the Asian Games (September) and the Commonwealth Games (July) the availability of all of the top players is doubtful.
BAI vice president (administration) TPS Puri said, “We want to ensure that all the top players are available for the tournament and that looks difficult this year due to the busy international schedule. Though a final call is yet to be taken, we are considering the option of holding the tournament early next year.”
