Parupalli Kashyap lost to 3rd seed Pengyu Du of China in the quarterfinals of the BWF World Championships, 21-16, 20-22, 15-21.
Kashyap started Game 1 with an aggressive mood. He won Game 1 against Pengyu Du quiet easily with the score line at 21-16. In Game 2, Kashyap made a weak start by going 7 points down quickly. Kashyap was trailing 11-16 at one point, but then came back with some great smash winners. The Indian showed some great intent in getting back and levelling the score at 20 all, but couldn’t finish it off well as he lost the second game 22-20.
In the final and deciding game, Kashyap started the game well and went on to lead the final game 11-8, after showing aggressive intent just like in Game 1.
Mid-way, Kashyap again committed the same mistakes as Game 2 and went down 12-15 to Du Pengyu. He couldn’t get back from there and lost the match 15-21, in a match that lasted 75 minutes.
