The much-awaited clash between Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu on the opening day of the Premier League Badminton Season 3 did not pan out eventually after the former World No. 1 withdrew from the clash when the teams were revealed.

The Chennai Smashers, who are the defending champions from the previous edition, take on the Awade Warriors in the season opener but in the women's singles match, it will be PV Sindhu up against Sai Uttejitha Rao. The Smashers have also opted to pick the match has their Trump Game, which would mean a two-point advantage for Sindhu's side, if she wins.
The reason behind the move is still unknown and it is still unclear whether Nehwal is suffering from any injury.
