India’s Sai Praneeth continued his rich vein of form, overcoming Alistar Cassy of Scotland in straight games 21-11 21-17 in 27 minutes in the opening round of the Canada Open on Tuesday.
Game 1 began on an even scale with both players, exchanging leads, but at the 5-5 mark, it was the Indian who took the key lead, winning 4 points on the trot to go 9-5 up and then continued to be ahead of his opponent at all points to eventually win the game 21-11.

Although Game 2 began on a similar note, it was once again Sai Praneeth who took the lead at the 3-3 mark, winning 4 points consecutively to go 7-3 up.Following that surge, both men continued to peg one another back, but at the 17-16 mark, it was the Indian who raced away with the match, winning 4 out of the next 5 points to win the match and move into the Round 2.
He will take on Jan Frohlich of Czech Republic in the second round.
