India’s campaign on Day Two of the 2015 US Open Grand Prix Gold began on a disappointing note as Saili Rane was knocked out in the opening round by Yui Hashimoto of Japan 21-17 21-11 in just 34 minutes on Wednesday.’
Rane, who was promoted from qualifiers, saw her opponent take the early 2-0 lead in the opening game after which she fought back to make it 2-2. Hashimoto though took control of the game when she won 4 points on the trot, thereby going from being 3-2 up to 7-2 up.
The Indian though tried to fight her way back, by winning 3 points on the trot, but it was Hashimoto, who continued to put sustained pressure on the Indian, and eventually took the opening game 21-17.
The second game got off to close start with both players tied at 3-3 after 6 points, but that’s when the 21-year-old Indian started to lose her grip on proceedings, first losing 2 points on the trot and then losing an astonishing, 7 points consecutively to go from being 7-9 down to 7-16 down.
That massive surge in points left her to do with a bit too much and she eventually lost the game 21-11 to bow out of the competition.
Final Scoreline- Yui Hashimoto(JPN) beat Saili Rane(IND) 21-17 21-11
