Saina avenges loss to Wang Yihan, enters the final of Denmark Open

Star Indian Shuttler and London Olympics Bronze Medallist Saina Nehwal finally defeated World No. 1 and London Olympics Silver Medallist Wang Yihan of China in the semifinals of Yonex Denmark Open Superseries Premier. Saina, who had never managed to defeat Wang in her 6 previous meetings, was in top form from the start of this match.

Wang started the match with a bang and took five straight points and made the score 0-5 but from then on, it was all Saina. From 0-5 down, Saina came back strongly and from the next 12 points, she managed to win 11. After taking a commanding lead in the first half of the first game, Saina never looked back and took the game 21-12.

In the second game with the scores at 2-2, Saina took the next 7 points in a row and made the score 9-2. Wang tried to make a comeback from there when she managed to get 4 points in a row to make the score 9-6. When Saina was leading 12-7 in the second game, Wang retired from the match due to the pain in her right leg. With this win, Saina completed her revenge of the London Olympics loss when Wang defeated her in the semis by 21-13, 21-13.

Saina Nehwal, who has not lost even a single game in the entire tournament, will now face World No.7 and 6th seed of the tournament Juliane Schenk of Germany in the Finals. Schenk defeated another Chinese shuttler Yanjiao Jiang by 21-13, 14-21, 15-21 in the semis. The final between Saina and Schenk will be played on Sunday and will start at around 5:45 P.M IST.
