Saina Nehwal has lost to Bae Yeon Ju from South Korea 21-23, 9-21 in the quarter-finals of the BWF World Championships, at Guangzhou, China.
After starting Game 1 well, and with a convincing lead, Saina lost her path mid-way and lost the first set 23-21. The same happened in Game 2 as the 13th seed proved to be better than 3rd seed.
Saina won a mere 9 points in the second set (9-21), putting up almost no resistance to her unfancied opponent.
The result is the latest in a long list of disappointments for Saina in 2013, having failed to win a single title this year. She also dropped to No.4 in the latest World Rankings.
