World No.1 Saina Nehwal got her 2015 Indonesia Open campaign off to a great start on Wednesday, defeating Nichaon Jindapon of Thailand 21-16 21-18 in the first round to kick start her campaign on a positive note and move into the next round.
Game 1 saw the Indian take an early 2-0 lead but Jindapon made a quick comeback to tie it 2-2 in both player's favour. The 25-year-old through broke the deadlock soon later to take a 6-2 lead in the opening game and continued to pile on the pressure on Jindapon, not letting her take control of the match at any point and eventually winning the game 21-16.
The second game though proved to be a much tighter affair as Jindapon and Saina went neck-and-neck, consistently pegging one another back. With the game tied 12-12, it was Jindapon who took the key advantage in the game at that mark winning the next 4 out of the 6 points to make it 16-14 in her favour.
Saina, though, wasn't willing to throw in the towel so easily and forced her way back into the match, winning next three points to take a 17-16 in her favour and that, in a sense proved to be the final nail in Jindapon’s coffin as she went on to clinch the game 21-18 to progress through to the second round.
