World No.1 and defending champion Saina Nehwal crashed out of the 2015 Australian Open after losing 21-15 21-13 in 42 minutes to the 6th seed Wang Shixian of China in the quarterfinal on Thursday.
Game 1 saw the Chinese win 6 consecutive points on the trot, but after being 14-10 down at one point, Saina tried to forge a comeback into the match, by winning the next 4 points on the trot to make it 14-14.But Wang didn't let Saina break the deadlock and take an overwhelming lead in the match and eventually sealed the game 21-15.
Game 2 saw the Chinese take an upper hand at the beginning as she raced to a 3-1 lead but Sain tried to claw her way back into the contest and won the next 2 points to make it 4-3.
But unfortunately for her though, Wang didn't her opponent take any control of the match at any point and it didn't help Saina’s cause either, that she committed several unforced errors and also her judgement of points proved to be her down fall and she eventually succumbed to a straight-game defeat.
Her defeat also brings the curtains down on India’s campaign at the 2015 Australian Open.
