Saina Nehwal won the Denmark Open Super Series Premier tournament by defeating the German Juliane Schenk 21-17 21-8 in 34 minutes. This is her sixth Super Series title and the first outside Asia. Her previous titles came in Indonesia (2009, 2010, 2012), Singapore (2010) and Hong Kong (2010).
“I thank Denmark and the Indian fans here for supporting me. I never expected to win this tournament,” Saina exclaimed after her win.
Earlier, she had defeated the Chinese world number 1 Wang Yihan in the semifinal yesterday.
