India's third seed Parupalli Kashyap defeated top seed and compatriot Kidambi Srikanth 23-21, 23-21 to win the men's singles title of the $120,000 Syed Modi International Badminton Championships here Sunday.
Kashyap handled nerves better than his young opponent in an all Indian final. Srikanth played some terrific strokes and dominated few rallies in the early goings of the match. The 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist was terrific at the net and did not let the 21-year old maintain any rhythm throughout the match.
Both games were close, but Srikanth couldn’t capitalise in crunch moments to hand over the advantage to Kashyap.
