While Indian shuttler H.S. Prannoy moved into the men's singles quarter-finals of the $50,000 Vietnam Open Grand Prix, his compatriot Ajay Jayaram had to bite the dust, losing in straight games at the Tan Binh Sports Center here Thursday.
Fifth seed Prannoy needed only 33 minutes to ease past Malaysian 16th seed Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin 21-15, 21-11. With this victory, the World No.50 Indian levelled their record to 1-all.
But earlier, another Malaysian Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif, seeded eighth, took care of 15th seeded Jayaram 22-20, 21-16 in 40 minutes in their first ever match.
