Seoul (Korea), Sep 28 (IANS) Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Parupalli Kashyap bowed out of the Korea Open Superseries badminton tournament after going down in their respective matches here on Wednesday.
The Guntur-born suffered a narrow 10-21, 24-22, 17-21 defeat against Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong, while Commonwealth Games champion Kashyap lost to Tian Houwei of China 22-20, 10-21, 13-21.
In other matches, Ajay Jayaram and B Sai Praneeth advanced to the second round. Jayaram defeated Korea's Jeon Hyeok Jin 23-21, 21-18 while Praneeth edged past Chinese Taipei's Hsu Jen-hao 21-13, 12-21, 21-15 in another match that lasted over an hour.
Jayaram will now take on China's Huang Yuxiang on Thursday and Praneeth will take on Korea's Son Wan Ho in the second round.
In women's singles, Tanvi Lad also bowed out of the tournament, losing her first-round tie 18-21, 21-13, 18-21 to Denmark's Anna Thea Madsen.
