Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap bowed down to Hong Kong's Hu Yun 22-20, 11-21, 14-21 in the Singapore Open Super Series on Saturday. Kashyap made the exit in the semi-final stage.
The 28-year-old world No. 15 lost to Yun, who is ranked 2 places above him, in 58 minutes.
In the first game, Kashyap took an 11-4 lead. However, after the break Yun fought back strongly, but the 7-point lead managed by the Indian was too strong for Yun as he lost the opening set 20-22.
In the second game, however, Yun breezed past Kashyap and won with the score of 21-11 never giving the Indian a sniff.
Despite Kashyap’s desperate attempts to comeback in the third game, he crumbled under pressure, allowing Yun to win the game, 14-21, and the match.
Kashyap's loss also marked the end of India's campaign in the tournament.
In the final on Sunday, Yun will face world No. 10 Kento Momota of Japan, who defeated Simon Santoso 21-10, 21-13 in the other semi-final in 37 minutes.
