India’s Siril Verma bowed out of the quarterfinals of the Vietnam open, losing to Lin Yu Hsien in three games 21-4 15-21 21-19 on Friday.
The opening game proved to be a completely one-sided affair as Hsien dominated proceedings from the word go, winning it 21-4 to take the upper hand in the contest.
The Indian, however, made a fine comeback into the match, winning the second game 21-15 to force the match to head into a decider. That deciding game proved to be a close affair, but it was Hsien who came through in the end, winning it 21-19 to book his place in the semifinal of the competition.
Siril’s exit also ends India’s campaign at the event.
