Amidst the fine performances from the Indian Men’s Singles contingent at the 2015 US Open Grand Prix Gold, there was some disappointing news coming in from the Women’s Singles draw, as Tanvi Lad crashed out in the first round of the qualification matches, losing 16-21 18-21 to Ozge Bayrak of Turkey in 37 minutes on Tuesday.
Game 1 saw a keen contest between the two, but Tanvi gave away the advantage to her opponent at the 11-11 mark, by losing 4 points on the trot to go down 11-15 down. Bayrak then piled further pressure on the India, and eventually won the first game 21-16.
In the second game, Bayrak took an early 4-1 lead to put immediate pressure on the Indian. Tanvi, though, fought back well to make it 5-5. But once again, she let go of an opportunity to take control of the match, at the 10-10 mark, and constantly remained at least 2 points behind her opponent from that point on. She eventually succumbed 21-18 in the second game to bow out in the opening round.
Final Scoreline- Ozge Bayrak(TUR) beat Tanvi Lad(IND) 21-16 21-18
