Tanvi Lad won her opening round match in straight games

India’s Tanvi Lad moved into the second round of the 2015 Canada Open after beating Jamie Subhandi of the United States 21-11 21-14 in 28 minutes in the opening round of the competition on Wednesday.
Game 1 saw the Indian in absolute cruise control mode as she raced away to an early 7-0 lead to put severe pressure on her opponent. She further enhanced that lead by winning 7 points on the trot to go 18-6 up. That all but sealed the game for her and she eventually won it 21-11.

The second game saw Subhandi take an early 5-2 lead, but Tanvi fought back to win 5 out of the next 7 points to make it 7-7. The match changed course once again after that as Tanvi gained momentum and raced away to a 15-12 lead, before putting her stamp on the match, by claiming 7 points on the trot to all but seal the contest. She eventually won the game 21-14 to go through to the second round.

She will now face Number 3 seed Michelle Li of Canada.
