Jakarta - Indonesian badminton star Taufik Hidayat has been appointed by Changhong, one of China’s leading electronics manufacturers, as its brand ambassador for the Indonesian market.
Speaking at the signing ceremony here Wednesday, Taufik expressed his gratefulness to Changhong for its appreciation and intention for cooperation despite the fact that he is going to retire in the middle of 2013.
The 32-year-old Taufik, who had won dozens of men’s singles championships in international tournaments, plans to retire from his professional career after the Indonesia Open, which will be held from June 11 to 16 June, Xinhua reports.
Asked about the retired life, Taufik said that he would spend most of his time to develop badminton players. “I have launched a public facility called Taufik Hidayat Arena, I wish badminton lovers can play and get trained there,” the ex-Olympic champion told reports after the signing ceremony.
“I’m honoured and excited to promote China’s top brand to Indonesian customers, I wish this cooperation will help Changhong to compete with other electronic producers and improve its market share,” Taufik said.
