Cardiff (Wales) - Indian shuttler Trupti Murgunde went down in the quarterfinals of the Welsh International badminton tournament against Swiss Nicole Schaller here on Saturday.
Third seed and World No.66 Nicole beat the 30-year-old Trupti 22-20, 21-7 in half hour at the Sport Wales National Centre to win their first ever encounter.
World No. 297 Trupti, who has had a topsy-turvy year, gave a good fight to the Swiss in the first game until the latter pulled away in the last two points.
The second game was dominated by Nicole, who won 21 of the 28 points played.
The 29-year-old Nicole will next face Bulgaria’s top seed and World No.22 Petya Nedelcheva in the semifinals of the tier four event.
