Tushar completes fine double on final day of LeapStart Badminton Championships

Tushar Suveer, 9, from Narayana E Techno bagged a fine double to win both the Under 11 and Under 13 boys’ singles title at the Bangalore leg of the 2015 LeapStart All India Badminton Championships at the Citinest Activity Center here on Wednesday. In the other categories, Ramya CV from Jain Heritage clinched the Under 15 girls’, P Raj Kumar from MVM Hosur won the Under 15 boys’, Shraddha from Sindhi High won the Under 13 girls’ and Arya from Gopalan won the Under 11 girls’ title.

Shraddha, 10, could not make it a fairytale ending as she failed to clinch the second double on the day as the challenge posed by Ramya CV, the eventual Under 15 girls’ winner, was too stiff.

P Raj Kumar,15, subdued a late rally from Amogh from Deccan International to win his closely contested match in a three-setter and eventually won 15-9 in the deciding set.

The Bangalore leg of the LeapStart All India Badminton Championships saw participation from 175 children from 25 school. The next leg of the tournament will be held in Hyderabad on the 21st and 22nd of July.
