China’s Lin Dan continues his comeback with a quarter final win against team mate Chen Long at BWF World Championships in Guangzou, China.
He may have taken a year out from the sport but Lin Dan’s badminton comeback continues in style. He beat the the second-seed Chen Long in the quarterfinals of the BMF World Championships.
After taking the first game 21-13, Long fought back to take a slim 17-16 lead in the second.The two continued to exchange points until Lin smashed his way to match point at 20-20.And he then forced the error from Long to reach the semi-finals. Just 2 wins away from a remarkable defence of his title despite not playing all year.
With the top ranked men’s doubles team of Lee Yong-dae and Ko Sung-hyun out of the tournament, fifth-seeded South Koreans Kim Ki-jung and Kim Sa-rang were their country’s last hope for men’s doubles glory.
They took on Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong from Malaysia and they never looked like losing it as they won 21-15 and 21-16 to reach their first World Championship semi final.
Defending men’s doubles world champions Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng of China were involved in a really entertaining match against Japan’s Hiroyuki Endo and Kenichi.Some great returns wowed the crowd as the Olympic champions went through 21-13 and 22-20.
They will now face Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in the semi-finals.
