World No. 2 Kidambi Srikanth's growing stature in the world of badminton was put to test on Saturday when he faced two of the best shuttlers of the modern era, Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan, in an exhibition match at The National Sports Club of India (NSCI) Dome in Mumbai. And guess what, the Indian superstar, who had paired up with South Korean, Lee Yong Dae, did manage to bamboozle the Malaysian to seal the doubles tie.
Quite a few star shuttlers including Dan, Chong Wei, Peter Gade and Taufik Hidayat were in Mumbai as a part of the Legends Vision Yonex World Tour. High profile Indian women shuttlers, PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal were also seen in action during the event.
Getting a chance showcase his skills against the legends of the game in his own backyard, Srikanth was at his marvelous best. He also posted a video on Twitter where he is seen serving for the match.
Chong Wei, funnily, caught the serve and claimed a change of shuttle, much to the enjoyment of the crowd. However, Srikanth held his nerve as he just dinked the shuttlecock over the net and the Malaysian is left with very little scope to send in a return over the net.
The crowd goes wild as the shuttle hits the net as the players exchange pleasantries to cap off the exciting game. It was a real treat for fans to see some of the biggest names in the sport in action together and the event will surely help popularize the sport even more in India.
