Denmark’s Viktor Axelson continued his march at the 2015 Australian Open on Sunday, after inflicting a 21-1 7 21-15 loss on 3rd seed and fellow countrymen Jan O Jorgensen in the semifinals on Saturday.
The opening game saw both players grab 4 points on the trot, but it was Axelson who converted the couple of game point opportunities that he received to take the first game 21-17 in his favour.
In the second game, Axelson got off a to a fast start, racing away to a 5-0 early lead, but Jorgenson fought back to win the next three points to make it 5-3. Both players then kept one another on their toes for the next few pints until at 12 points apiece, Axelson raced away with the game, winning the next points on the trot and making it 18-12 in his favour.
That surge in points made it extremely hards for Jorgenson to make a return into the match and he went to lose the game 21-15 to bow out of the tournament. Axelson will take on the winner of the match between Chen Long and Tian Houwei in the finals.
