Men’s Singles Category:
World No.92 Nan Wei of Hong Kong defeated Chinese smasher Xue Song in a tiring match by 21-16, 18-21 and 21-13. The first game went in favour of Nan. Xue Song made a comeback in the second game but lost by a big margin in the final encounter. The match was a 62-minute battle between the two.
Hong Kong shuttler Yan Kit Chan progressed to the finals by defeating Dmytro Zavadsky of Ukraine in a fighting match by 21-14, 13-21 and 21-15. It was a tough clash as the Ukraine opposition managed to balance the equation in the second game, but ultimately Chan came back strongly in the final game and marched to the finals.
Women’s Singles Category:
The Thai smasher Busanan Ongbumrungpan defeated Chinese smasher Hui Xirui by 21-12 and 21-12. Busanan dominated throughout the game and convincingly defeated the opponent.
Juan Gu of Singapore defeated Hera Desi of Indonesia by 21-10 and 23-21. Hera gave a tough fight in the decisive game.
Men’s Doubles Category:
In the 1st Semi-final match of this category, Indonesian pair of Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pankaryanira and Ade Yusuf defeated the Chinese opposition-Gen Li and Nan Zhang by 15-21, 21-14 and 21-16. In the beginning, the Indonesian pair lost the first game, but made a strong comeback in the remaining games to reserve a place in the Finals.
The pair of Berry Angriawan and Ricky Karanda Suwardi from Indonesia defeated the Chinese opponents-Jun Kang and Cheng Liu by 21-12 and 21-15. It was a dominating performance by Berry and Ricky.
Women’s Doubles Category:
Chinese pair of Yixin Bao and Jinhua Tang defeated the Dutch pair of Eefje Muskens and Selena Piek by 21-17 and 21-12. The match lasted 29 minutes.
In the second Semi-Final match of this category, the Indonesian pair of Anggia Shitta Awanda and Della Destiara Haris defeated the Chinese pair of Peng Du and Mengjing Xiong by 21-12 and 21-19.
Mixed Doubles Category:
The Singapore pair of Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Yu Yan Vanessa Neo after losing their first game against the Chinese pair of Lu Kai and Jinhua Tang, presented a fighting encounter and won the remaining games.
The pair from Singapore dominated throughout the second game and levelled the match. But the final game was a neck to neck competition between the competitors and ended in favour of Danny Bawa and Vanessa.
The Indonesian pair of Muhammad Rijal and Debby Susanto crushed the Ukraine couple of Dmytro Zavadsky and Anastasiya Dmytryshyn by 21-13 and 21-11 to book their berth in the finals. It was a small match which only lasted for 24 minutes.
The Yonex Dutch Open Tournament 2013 has reached the climax now with a very interesting line up of finalists. All the Chinese hopes were shattered in the Semi-Finals except for one in the Women’s Doubles category.
Indonesian pairs will be competing in all the three Doubles categories namely, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
Hong Kong has already assured a title in the Men’s Singles Category by defeating the competitors in semis. The hosts will be locking horns for the Women’s Singles title. The final will be held on Sunday, 13th October, 2013.
