At some point, quite a few MLB stars become a parent. They often have families outside the ballpark and sometimes grow just like ordinary families. That will be true of a few stars this season, some of whom have already announced that they're expecting a baby soon.
The MLB offseason is pretty short. Spring Training begins in February, and the playoffs end in October and sometimes November. That leaves December and January as true off months, with April marking the beginning of the season.
That means it's difficult to have children outside the season, so these players and many more will land on the paternity list during the 2025 season. Here's a list of players who recently announced their family's expansion. Expect them to miss at least a few games this year to be with their wives during childbirth and the early days of their kids' lives.
MLB stars who are about to have children
3) Francisco Lindor
New York Mets star Francisco Lindor just announced he and his wife Katia will have their third baby. The Mets star posted a photo saying that all eyes are on the new baby who will push their family to five members this year. He shared this post a couple of weeks ago.
His wife has posted the same and shared about other pregnancies. Her second-most recent post is a video dump of her home birth for the Lindors' second child. She raved about it, highlighting how good her midwives were and how supportive her husband was throughout the process. Katia said she couldn't have done it without her husband's support through the entire process.
2) Shohei Ohtani
Shohei Ohtani and his wife Mamiko Tanaka also announced they're having a baby soon. The couple just got married last offseason and remain a pretty private couple despite the Los Angeles Dodgers star's ever-growing fame. Ohtani shared a photo of his dog, Decoy, with the ultrasound and some baby clothes and captioned it:
"Can’t wait for the little rookie to join our family soon!"
Based on the color of the clothing (which is pink), Ohtani may be having a daughter for his first child. They were married in February and are now expecting a child.
1) Aaron Judge
Like his 2024 MVP counterpart Ohtani, Aaron Judge will also become a father in 2025. He recently announced his wife Samantha Bracksieck's pregnancy. The New York Post has reported that they're expecting a daughter for their first child.
The two have been married since 2021, but they are also a fairly private couple. They haven't responded to requests for comment on the news, but Page Six states they reached out. They may not say much, as they didn't even announce their engagement and had a relatively private wedding.
