5 bold predictions that could define the Dodgers’ 2025 season ft. Shohei Ohtani's 4th MVP (Imagn)

The Los Angeles Dodgers were the team of 2024, winning the World Series, employing the MVP, and just generally being the best in the sport. In 2025, they're poised for more.

Here are five bold predictions for what that entails.

Bold predictions for the Dodgers in 2025

5) Freddie Freeman struggles

If Freddie Freeman's World Series is any indication, he's poised for a huge 2025 season. However, he is going to be older and will be coming off major ankle surgery. At some point, age will catch up to him, and it might start in 2025.

A struggle for Freeman is still probably better than a lot of hitters and features 2.5 fWAR and a 110 wRC+, so it's not like he's going to be bad or negatively impact the Dodgers at all. He just might not play to his usual standard.

4) Tyler Glasnow Cy Young finalist

When healthy, Tyler Glasnow is one of the best pitchers in baseball. Last year, he sported a sterling 32.2% K rate. He also had 3.8 fWAR in 138 innings. He was brilliant when on the field, he just couldn't stay healthy for the entire season.

If he does, there's no reason to think he can't be a Cy Young contender. Zack Wheeler, Chris Sale, and Blake Snell will likely contend as well, but Glasnow is as good as those pitchers and could have a really special year.

3) 109 wins

The Dodgers signed a plethora of major superstars last offseason and didn't win 100 games. That was a bit of a surprise, because adding Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto to one of the NL's best teams should've resulted in a more dominant year.

In 2025, they will have Blake Snell and a lot of returning players healthy. Ohtani will also pitch again, so there's no reason to think they can't have a season for the ages with 109 or more wins.

2) Shohei Ohtani's 4th MVP

Maybe it's not a bold prediction that a historic and unprecedented talent will win the MVP next year. It is, however, bold to predict a repeat in the award and a fourth overall award for Shohei Ohtani.

He will pitch again, which means he won't go 50/50 and he won't have 9.0+ fWAR on offense. He will probably have 4.0+ fWAR on the mound and at the plate, and that's probably more than enough to entice voters and get them to ignore voter fatigue.

1) No repeat of World Series win

The Dodgers won the World Series with brutal pitching health and have added Blake Snell to the roster. There's no reason to think they won't repeat as World Series champions except that it hardly ever happens.

No team has done so since the turn of the century. The Dodgers will face a relentless San Diego Padres team, a hungry New York Mets squad, and a healthy Atlanta Braves in just the NL. Their path to repeating is filled with major opposition.
