The Cleveland Guardians, after missing out on the playoffs in 2023, got back to the postseason and made it to the ALCS. They've made some changes heading into 2025, so here are some bold predictions for the next season in Cleveland.

Bold predictions for the 2025 Guardians

5) Emmanuel Clase will break the saves record

In one season, no one has recorded more than 62 saves. Emmanuel Clase's highest single-season total is 47, set last season. He only appeared in 74 games, so the Guardians would probably have to use him a little more than they usually do.

However, Clase is one of the best relievers in baseball. If the Guardians give him enough opportunities, he will hit 63 or more saves in the 2025 MLB season.

4) Steven Kwan will win the batting title

Steven Kwan flirted with the batting title for some of last year, although he missed a lot of games. In 2025, look for him to do just that. Bobby Witt Jr. and Aaron Judge will probably compete for it once again, but Kwan has the skills to pull it off.

His K rate is very low. Last year, he struck out 9.4% of the time. His BABIP was .304, so if he can have a better contact year, he should easily contend in a league that won't have double-digit .300 hitters.

3) Shane Bieber will win the Cy Young

Shane Bieber missed the entire 2024 season and he's now on a one-year prove-it deal with the Guardians. It's hard to know how good he'll be recovering from injury, but this is a former Cy Young winner.

He won it in a shortened season and the AL is full of stacked pitching talent. Bieber will have to outdo Gerrit Cole, Garrett Crochet, Tarik Skubal, Framber Valdez, Max Fried, Cole Ragans, Logan Gilbert and others to win it. If 2020 is any indication, he has the talent to do just that.

2) The Guardians will earn a World Series berth

The Guardians were trounced in the ALCS by the New York Yankees, who lost Juan Soto in the offseason. The Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals should all be improved as well. However, the Guardians have the talent and could win the AL pennant.

The National League is arguably way too stacked to predict a Guardians World Series win, but they will absolutely make it to the Fall Classic again in a slightly weaker AL.

1) Jose Ramirez will join the 50-50 club

Shohei Ohtani just established the 50 homer/50 steal club in 2024. Jose Ramirez narrowly missed out on the 40/40/40 (adding doubles to it) club in 2024. Ramirez is obviously a home run and stolen base threat, but this would be a career year.

If Ramirez does this, there's almost no way he won't also win MVP, so this is a two-pronged prediction. Ramirez has never hit 40 home runs in a season, nor has he stolen more than 41, so this would be an incredible season for him.
