The Philadelphia Phillies seemed to have put it all together. After two straight deep runs coming from the wild card spot, the Phillies seemed to be getting it together in the regular season, but they fizzled in the playoffs. Here are five bold guesses for the 2025 season.

Bold predictions for the 2025 Phillies

5) World Series victory

The Phillies went to the World Series by stunning the world in 2022. Then, they took a step backward, losing in the NLCS. Then, they took another step backward after winning the division.

This year will be the year they finally put together a full run. They've learned valuable lessons over the last three seasons, and they'll finally win the World Series in 2025.

4) Kyle Schwarber hits 60 home runs

Few players hit home runs at a higher rate than Kyle Schwarber. He has the third-most home runs since the 2019 season with 212. He's behind just Aaron Judge and Pete Alonso, and he has fewer games and fewer at-bats than Alonso.

Schwarber doesn't get as many RBI since he bats leadoff, but the home runs don't change much. He has a career-high of 47 but has exceeded 30 in every full season of his career except for 2018, so he could be in for a huge power season.

3) Two Cy Young finalists

Zack Wheeler was a Cy Young finalist last year, and there's no reason to assume he won't be again this year. He's one of the sport's best pitchers, and he's likely to have another excellent year.

He will be joined by someone in that category in 2025. Who? It could be any of the remaining starters. Jesus Luzardo, Aaron Nola, or even Ranger Suarez are all capable of putting together a great year.

2) Phillies get the top seed in the NL

Right now, the trendiest team in the Phillies' own division is the New York Mets. After ousting the Phillies in the playoffs and going to the NLCS, they were on the rise. They've since added Juan Soto, and they're poised for a big year.

That overlooks the very talented and much healthier 2025 Atlanta Braves, but the Phillies have been completely forgotten. They still have their core and they won the division last year. They'll silence the doubters and do so again this year.

1) Bryce Harper wins a third MVP

Bryce Harper is a likely Hall of Famer, but this season might wrap it up for him. If he wins a third MVP, a total very few have ever reached, there's nothing keeping him from Cooperstown, and he was an MVP candidate before missing some time last year.

The NL is stacked with potential MVP challengers this year, though. It's Shohei Ohtani's award to lose, but Ronald Acuna Jr. (depending on when he returns), Mookie Betts, Juan Soto, Elly De La Cruz, Francisco Lindor, and more could all challenge, making this a truly bold prediction.
