For Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodon, the 2024 season is shaping up to be a much better campaign than his first season with the team last year. As such, the left-hander's family has been able to delight in his success.
On May 30, Rodon made his AL-best 12th start of the season in Anaheim against the Angels. In attendance were his wife, Ashley, and their three children, Willow, Bo, and Silo.
Prior to the game, Ashley took to Instagram to show off the fun she and her kids were having in the 70-degree California sun during the Yankees' match against the Angels on Wednesday.
Carlos Rodon's kids, Willow and Bo, were seen in the lower bowl of Angel Stadium. In a reference to the stadium snacks that were ostensibly consumed, Ashley captioned the story:
"A lot of sugar was ingested yesterday."
Although their father started Thursday's game, Ashley's capture came during the Yankees' 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday. The three-game set in Anaheim was the penultimate series of a 10-day West Coast road trip for the Yankees.
In the series finale on Thursday, Rodon tossed six innings, allowing three runs and striking out five, as the New York Yankees cruised to an 8-3 win. With the win, Rodon improved his record on the year to 7-2 and now boasts a 3.09 ERA.
Carlos Rodon's success this year has been heartening from a Yankees perspective. Last year, the two-time All-Star was sidelined with injury for the first two months of the year and struggled when he did return. In 14 starts last year, Rodon finished with a 3-8 record and a 6.85 ERA, the worst of his career to date.
Carlos Rodon and wife Ashley's fundraiser, joined by Yankees teammates
Known philanthropists, Carlos and Ashley Rodon, are known to make an impact off the field.
In early May, they threw a charity ball for the Rodon Foundation that featured some of Carlos' Yankees teammates taking to the turntable. Several players and their wives, including Anthony Rizzo, Aaron Judge, and Gerrit Cole, attended the fundraiser.
The Rodon Foundation aims to provide conception services to disadvantaged families and was inspired by the pair's own struggles in that area.
With the Yankees continuing to lead their division, the pieces seem to finally be falling into place for Carlos Rodon and his family.
