After rocky starts to the season for both, Alex Bregman and Josh Hader have finally found their strides. The results of which have been shown clearly in Houston's ascension in the AL West standings.
Recently, the team's good humor was reflected in a heartwarming moment between two youngsters doing their best to re-capture the Astros' recent prowess. According to the story, the tykes looked like "a mini Bregman and Hader."
In a recent story on her Instagram page, Alex Bregman's wife Reagan captured their son, Knox, having a playdate with Hader's son, Lucas. Both born in the summer of 2022, Knox and Lucas showed poise beyond their years as they mimicked their fathers playing for the Houston Astros while on a playdate in the Bregman's living room.
Although he hit a mere .219 over the course of April and May, Alex Bregman's bat heated up with the weather this year. Since June 1, the Astros' third baseman has hit .305 with 3 home runs and 15 RBIs. In the throes of a pivotal contract year, Bregman has put whatever doubts existed about his future in Houston to rest.
After departing the San Diego Padres last offseason, Josh Hader initially struggled after signing a five-year, $95 million deal with Houston. After struggling to a 7.45 ERA in April, Hader got his figure down to 1.46 in May. Now, in 39 innings of work this season, the 30-year-old Hader is 3-5 with a 4.15 ERA.
Although Hader's figures are far below last season, and quite shy of his career-best 2021 season with the Milwaukee Brewers, hope remains in Houston that the former All-Star can still turn things around.
Motherhood and love of baseball brings together families of Josh Hader and Alex Bregman
Both mothers to young toddlers, Reagan Bregman and Maria Hader have learned to balance their husband's busy schedules with the needs of their children. As Reagan told the Houston Chronicle earlier this year:
"It's just not reality. I think every day is very different. And my time and energy goes to different things, but I think like overall is a big picture I have balance in the back of my head. I'm intentional about it, and trying to make sure that I'm doing the best that I can in each realm."
The pair remain close friends and have even shared images of "Girl's Nights" on their Instagrams with each other. As the Astros continue to climb the standings, both are hoping that the postseason will come to town again.
